THE FALSIFIED REPUBLIC
The documentary summarizes the key events of the methanol case of autumn 2012 and looks for an answer to the question of who failed in this case – individuals or the state?
The film looks at several contexts of the affair that has become the most dramatic event of the fall of 2012. Why is it not spoken about that more than thirty people die of alcohol poisoning every year? Is politics in the Czech Republic subject to indifference, irresponsibility or hypocrisy? Do we live in a state of panacea? And why do we drink alcohol at all? The director tries to find answers to these questions through meeting people who have personally experienced this story of poisoned alcohol.
