The documentary is about finding the truth about the case of the killing of a young Roma man in Tanvald on New Year’s Eve in 2012, when a local citizen allegedly shot the twenty-two-year-old Ladislav, a father of two young children. The authors become documentary detectives following the footprints of Czech xenophobia.

Tanvald has a parking lot and supermarkets instead of the square. Winter is colder here than in the rest of the country. The year 2012 in Tanvald started with misfortune. An hour and a half after midnight, Tanvald’s senior citizen shot a twenty-two-year-old man dead. Was it necessary self-defense? The young man was a Roma and the gunman a Gadjo. It all unfolded in the city of closed textile production, extreme unemployment and low tolerance. Shootings began a few days after Ladislav’s death. And it appears that Ladislav’s parents live within eyeshot of the man who killed their son. How does one make a film about misfortune without it being hopeless?
